Get directionsMy father was hospitalized at Bethesda for six weeks following complications after having surgery, which ultimately affected his brain and cognitive status. We were very happy with the care and services provided to him. The staff was very professional, kind and friendly. The physicians took the time to meet with us and explain what was going on. The social worker and case manager were also very helpful and provided our family with updates after their weekly rounds. We felt very supported and knew my father was in good hands.... read more
In August 2015 my mom went to Bethesda to recover from an accident. She had a severe TBI and went there while still in a coma. We toured Bethesda as well as on other facility before choosing Bethesda. From the moment we arrived on the tour we found the staff respectful, caring and professional. This held true with all of the staff during my mom's month stay there. It was very nice to find such a caring professional place during a very scary time.
My son is currently here with Covid-19. I am suppose to be able to talk with him via the video chat/ ipad. The ipad doesn't work. It does not allow love ones to join the call. I did call using just the audio and the nurses do not answer. I can't say all the nurses was bad. There was one terrific one and another that was good but the rest was "lazy" and did not answer the calls. I work in health care and I know it's tough but when you make a plan and suppose to follow the plan of care.....lol you are suppose to do just that. ... read more
Bethesda is the worst healthcare facility I have ever been to. My father was on the brain injury unit, and I hated it the moment I walked on the unit. Most of the staff were very unfriendly. The wait time for anything to get done for a patient is at least 20 minutes. The Charge RN scolded me like I was a child when I told her I didn't think my family was being updated appropriately. My father is always upset with everything that happens here. His therapy was maybe 10 minutes long if that. There are a few very kind employees... read more
This is supposed to be a rehab hospital. I'm supposed to be non-weight bearing on my right foot. I got maybe 10 minutes of therapy a day. They kept track of my every move. I had to push the call light to do anything... even go to the bathroom... and many times it was a half hour wait for anyone to come. They'd turn off my call light from the desk sometimes. There are people who are good there, but they are few and far between. The night before I left, I handed an aide a soiled pair of shorts and and undies. She put... read more
If you come on a weekend the monitoring machines are not set up right away, for someone with a problem with breathing this could be dangerous. Most of the staff is caring but there was a problem with Dad's breathing and the doctor did not act fast enough. Dad had hypoxia and pneumonia after 2 days at Bethesda and had to go to an emergency room. I would definitely recommend a family member advocating and present for the patient, but if you can help it, try Regency or somewhere else.
Please do not bring your love ones to this hospital. The level of care is horrible and a lot of the staff are rude. Average waiting time when calling the nurse is 10-15 minutes. They are not staff appropriately as that is their constant excuses. They claim to specialize in respiratory care but assign multiple floors to only one respiratory therapist. I can't count how many accidents almost happen if it wasn't for one of the family member being their 24/7. I feel bad for the patients that does not have family member to be the... read more
