UPDATE: After posting the initial review below, I was contacted by the owner and discussed our experience. He offered for the issues below to be fixed by placing quarter round around the island and fixing the transition. After the materials were in, a date and time was scheduled. The day arrived and the scheduled time (9:00 AM) came and went. My husband later stated that someone had called him during a meeting at 1:45 PM.
