I had been craving meatloaf all day so my husband and I went to Cracker Barrel on Schillinger after work. We had the sweetest waitress. Her name was JADE. I would highly recommend you ask to be seated in her section. She took her time and went over the specifics of the menu with my husband, recommended the most amazing loaded tots appetizers and made sure we had everything we needed our entire visit. Something has happened to the service and food at the Cracker Barrel on Schillingers Road, Mobile, Al. We have been eating here about 3-4 times a month for a while. The last few times we’ve gone, the wait for our food is long despite there only being a few patrons. The food is over cooked, dry, and the portions vary. Drinks are not replenished. Server was super sweet and attentive. Food was okay, kind of like white bread-nothing outstanding, just something to eat. If you like blandness, then this is your stop. I’ll take the flavor train to local restaurants if I want authentic country food. Good thing I had a coupon and gift card, and the server more than made up for the meh food.
I don’t normally go to Cracker Barrel. The only times I’ve really visited there were church trips or family trips. It is not a place I consider when ordering takeout. Classic country cooking is always a hit. Came on a Thursday which is why sweet potato casserole was on the menu. Fried chicken was a huge pile of food! Everything was cooked deliciously.
