Dr. Appel was excellent on the initial assessment. He listened to me as a unique individual and not just as the textbook patient. I have adverse reactions to a lot of medications and take as little as possible. He was very professional, asked appropriate questions and let me explain my history with medications. I really liked him a lot and happy that I finally found a great Dr. to see!

Good for people with straightforward mental illnesses. Not the greatest for complex, comorbid conditions. For these cases, it seems a lack of empathy comes out, along with a tendency to invalidate your feelings, and lean toward “you” doing something wrong, rather than his plan being wrong (not producing the right results). So, if you have a complex condition, I would go elsewhere. Otherwise, he is fine.

I have never felt so compelled to write a review. This is my first time with any doctor doing so. He is absolutely wonderful. He knows what he’s doing, he is conservative with meds but realistic when they are needed. He thinks carefully and tries different ways to help you. He has been a life saver. Dr. Appel is a wonderful doctor. He listens and he shares helpful advice. He is very attentive and caring. Nothing more you could ask for.
Dr Appel is very knowledgeable & he takes the time without rushing you out. He is open to discuss your meds & others new treatments available to address your issue. I would say that he thinks outside the box & I’m very happy with the results.
