Care staff was friendly, Admin sucked, clean, good food, no activity director, WAY too expensive. My hubby was in Memory Care, they kicked him out in less than a month. He kept getting past the alarm system. He went to [name removed] in Venice, $[fee removed] less rent monthly, master chef, TONS of activities...he was very happy there. He passed in Nov. I really liked the Assisted Living section of DC. It was clean, inviting, it has wide hallways and gives the feel of private apartments. The apartments themselves have good layouts for comfortable living. I also liked that there was always a nursing staff on duty in case of an emergency.
What we like the most about Discovery Commons is the cleanliness, care provided, and open communication. Based on the experience we have had so far, we would recommend this community to other families
I cannot say enough good about Discovery commons South Biscayne!! Mom has late stage Alzheimer's disease and she is flourishing there. The care is top notch and we are so so happy with our decision. Absolutely I would recommend recommend them and have recommended them to people I have talked to.
Have to give it an adjustment period. We have had a lot of adjustments especially with nursing. But after a 6 month period every thing seems to be going ok. Not very good views on the 2nd floor. At first he didn’t like the food but all in all things are ok now just give it 6 months for everything to settle before judgement.
Based on my moms situation they were able to accommodate and attend to her particular needs. I would recommend Discovery Commons. They watched over my mother until the end.
I like that Mom gets regular showers, medication dispensed to her, Laundry done and apartment is cleaned. What I like least is the daily charge to deliver mom's meals to her apartment (it's already very expensive to live there). The fact that she could use a little more attention to her needs, such as making sure she isn't sitting in human wastes for hours while it soaked through many layers on the bed through to the mattress. My loved one is a resident at Discovery Commons South Biscayne and most everything has been very good. They are a good facility.
It's very nice, clean, and doesn't look like a nursing home environment.
