I am so disappointed that the doctor refused me an appointment. I suffer greatly with neuropathic chronic pain due to chemo causing progressive damage to the body neuropathic system. I need help, as my ability to move is declining, mostly alone a recluse, and need to pay others to perform everyday tasks, driving no longer, groceries delivery, house cleaning, and other things. My first visit to Dr Bakers office was with Natalie, a new PA . She very bluntly told me there was no cure for cervical stenosis and my Pain level on a scale of 1-10 would never be below a five. It was extremely discouraging news. I had a epidural done by Dr Baker and my follow up visit with Natalie was worse. I said I didn’t appreciate her being so blunt and that the epidural did not work. I’ve heard of script writers before but never had the misfortune to met one until now. In two years I’ve seen him twice. That’s it! All the other times are his PA. I advise you to steer clear. He never introduced himself or even looked at me and my husband. He typed then stood up without a glance or word and left the room. An hour past my appointment time, a man wearing scrubs burst into the small room where I’d been kept waiting, sat down at the computer with his back to me, & started typing. I began explaining the condition that brought me to NovaSpine, when he interrupted & said, 'I’m going to tell you the truth: there is no treatment for your condition and nothing that can be done.' Dr. Baker is a rude and complacent Dr. I just got off the phone with his Triage Nurse, or that's who she said she was and I was calling in regard to a letter I needed regarding my back for VA. I was ridiculed and belittled by his staff (triage nurse). They said that I have only been with them for 2 months so they wouldn't give me a letter even after giving me a crappy letter that made no sense. NovaSpine is another word for factory medicine in AZ. There are so many older people with pain that the place is a zoo. You never see an MD unless you are having a procedure. All continuing care is done by revolving door PAs - some are better than others. You are a number, get in line, get stuck with a needle and move to check out AND the first question you are asked is not what hurts but what insurance you have. They want to be paid on a volume Medicare business. Go elsewhere.
Very unprofessional and incompetent staff like the doctor! Left with more pain then I started with, beware! Lots of excess charges and incorrect charges. This is a churn and burn facility!
Unfortunately, not likely. This is in no way a reflection of his care, but of his office staff. First, they gave me a fax number that did not work to send my authorization. I had a number of issues dealing with their staff and ended up deciding to go with another provider. The hassle was not worth the alleged high reviews.
