After discovering this site, I read the other reviews and I have to say my experience has been very similar. It is true that my appointment was rushed, and as someone else wrote he's not up on the latest medical procedures. Someone else used the word 'extortion' and I feel it is an accurate representation of how I felt when being notified of this 'concierge' thing. It has pushed me to find another primary care doctor in the area. But, as someone else mentioned he hasn't been able to find my medical records too.
Three generations of my family had been going to this practice. He recently started extorting his patients by insisting we pay him outside of insurance. When we switched doctors, Elfenbein said he can't find our medical records!
Honestly, this is a review I really didn't want to write but I feel I have to raise awareness about this doctor. He took a nice family practice his father started and is now focused on money. We had been going here when his father was still in practice but after his father retired it quickly changed. Rushed visits and now he's demanding monthly credit card payments. He's not the only game in town, I don't know how long he'll get away with this money grab.
I can't believe he's become a doctor who cares less about his patients. He's willing to get rid of patients just to collect membership fees. Unbelievable!
Is it legal for Dr Elfenbein to charge an annual fee on top of insurance? Can anyone recommend another internist in the area?
Terrible staff, long wait times, awful care, billing nightmares.
He is a nice guy and I tried to make an appointment today but kept getting a recording to leave a message. Not everyone can answer their phones at work so having a doctor's office having a policy of not answering their phones to make appointments is very inconvenient. This is not a review of the doctor himself but more running of the office which is a major part in medical care.
I was a patient of Dr Elfeinbein but have since found a new PCP. I am seen by a cardiologist who prescribes me medication/inserted loop recorder. Dr Elfenbein was not familiar with the medication or did not know what a loop recorder was. This made me very uncomfortable. He is a nice guy but doesn't seem to be up to date with the lastest guidelines/recommendations. I found a new PCP who is much more thorough.
