This company nearly doubled my insurance rate from $186 to $352. They tried to hide their attempt at extortion by claiming costs were rising for medical payouts and parts replacement. This isn't an insurance company, it's a criminal enterprise.
7/15/23 was when i filed my claim for an object hitting my car and getting stuck in the radiator, and thus damage to the entire coolant system and head gasket. Repair shop has been holding my vehicle waiting on the company to approve the repairs but elephant refuses to approve and is asking for ridiculous things such as photos of the inside of the motor when the motor doesnt need to be taken apart at all, the head gasket needs to be replaced. I will not recommend this company. My insurance was cancelled and they went into my bank account and draft funds a week after because they said I had a balance. I may have been on auto pay while my policy was in effect but after cancellation I DID NOT AUTHORIZE that payment!!!! Human beings dont know what a family is struggling with , They dont notify you about setting up a payment. They just take! And that was my rent money to keep a roof over my children heads!!! Platinum members here! Or should I say we were, Been with them a long time really no issues till now. My wife and I both are 48 yrs old with no driving issues seen our rate go from ~$450 to ~$823 as recent as (July to August 2023) for no reason. Called to ask what the big change was and the representative stated insurance was going up everywhere and tried to see about lowering it but eventually that was the best they can do. Elephant Insurance is not offering insurance coverage on Hyundais or KIas even if they have the push button start. The theft issue is tied to the key ignition vehicles only. This should coverage should not be banned to push start vehicles and limits the options we have for coverage. I will not be using Elephant in the future even after we no longer own this car and will be sure to post this everywhere possible so others are aware of how difficult Elephant Insurance is to work with as an insurer.
As a former claims adjuster with this company I can tell you if you have a claim? Get your states department of insurance involved at once! The process is slow and may take a while to get any estimates or supplements. Furthermore if you have rental coverage of the adjuster isnt following the claim close enough, and considering they are overwhelmed with claims do they arent, your rental will end prior to your car being repaired. Ive been waiting for a check for damage on my car since 2019, since that time Ive changed insurance companies because of the service Ive had additional damage to my car the current insurance has already paid per the agreement with elephant they would pay the rest, its been just about two months and still no check Im being told that its an issue with the system and they are waiting on the i t department I spoke with ***** through email and by phone
I was with elephant for about ten years and my wife as well. I had one vehicle insured my wife had two. I just recently paid my six month premium at the end of May 2023 and my payment was $290. Less than two weeks later I got rid of my car I had insured because I recently purchased another car. So I called elephant to transfer the $290 on to my current car and they told me they couldn't insured my car because it had a rebuilt title. I was rear ended by a driver that has Elephant Insurance in an at fault state, meaning, his insurance pays. Because he does not answer the phone when they call him and he doesnt call them back, they will not cover repairs to my car. I needed to put this through my own insurance to get coverage. This company is fraudulent.
