I’ve been waiting for my stove since last September. I had to pay in full up front, provide insane schematics of our floor plan before they would put it in production and keep emailing them for updates. They won’t keep you informed. It wasn’t until January when I signed off and agreed to have it delivered to my front door to bring into the house myself that they finally put it in the production orders. Per our correspondence, I sent 17 emails and left several voice mails with your designer (who ordered the stove for you) over four months, telling her that it was critical that we receive the delivery form back in order to get the stove into the production schedule. The form is very specific about what we need. Our requests to BGI were very clear. We apologize that we were unable to move forward because of lack of response.
I love my Elmira wood stove. We had a broken brick and my husband called to order one and they only come in a set and the nice lady said it was still under warranty. This is so awesome. I would recommend stoves to everyone from these people. They are very nice people. Thank you!!!
I've been using an old Elmira for 20 years. I baked all our bread and did the cooking on the top. Not any more though since we bought a new one. Bring back the useful attributes of the woodfired cook stoves so that the oven will heat to a useful temperature. Our old stove had a working thermometer but not the new one. Bring back the multiple vents for control. Bring back a cast iron top with holes instead of the thin cheap sheet metal. I was excited to give Elmira's Northstar model 1959 a try. I love the look of this fridge and it's great to see a larger, French-door model. The fridge is extremely expensive - well over $5,000 - and I paid a whopping $1,000 delivery fee. To clarify... we have attempted to work with the customer and send parts at no charge despite the fridge being out of warranty. We have also offered to compensate her and / or her contractor for the work, and have provided a personal cell number they can contact 24/7 if they need assistance. The situation with the loose hinge screws is rare - maybe half a dozen in the hundreds of fridges we've shipped over the past several years - but we have improved the product to reduce its occurrence even further.
My status has changed and my fridge has been fixed. This is old news: I bought a Northstar Refrigerator in 2004 and now it needs work and Elmira Stove Works cannot find a repair person in Washington state to fix it. It’s a GE bottom mount, but GE Consumer Affairs says they won’t fix it because the door has been altered by Elmira. And I have been calling people for two weeks now trying to get it fixed.
I've bought a large number of Elmira's 50s-style NorthStar line in the last seven years: two stoves, a microwave, two dishwasher panels, the range hood, and two fridges.
