Most of the staff are really great. I was concerned when one of the drs checked on my mom but did not say a word to the nurse. It was my understanding that some drs do not relay patient info to nurses for documentation. I found a used blood test strip on the floor that was never picked up. As far as i know the floor was not cleaned during my moms stay. The rooms are considered private but do have 2 beds. I tried staying but the noise and woman across the way whining all day and night was about to drive me to drink. Thumbs up... read more

The staff is slow to respond to requests using the bedside buttons. My mom could walk with a walker and a cane before she came to this place. Because of the staff working heres insisting on putting her in a wheel chair instead of making her continue to use the walker my mother's leg muscles have atrophied. She now needs to go for further physical therapy to rebuild what Encompass has destroyed. The food is terrible my mother refused to eat, my dad had to bring outside food in so my mom would eat. This is a place of horror!! The pharmacist and hospitality (who is only a family med dr) refuses to follow orders from the surgeon. My mom was given A Tylenol for pain although her surgeon TWICE spoke with the pharmacist, nurses and doctor. How Dr Sanchez can sleep at night is beyond me. He is HORRIBLE! I left my mom twice: once I came back and she was in a Nike sock (no slip sock) alone in the bathroom 24 hours post surgery. (She had massive foot reconstruction and was no weight bearing on that foot.) the second time I left... read more

Worst place ever!!! The nurses will not talk to you, will not take care of you, if you have an infection, it will get worse!! They only come into the room when something is scheduled, like medication, or meal time etc...other than that you will never see them in your room. They are all in the nurses station. If you ask them a question they always say, let me look at in your chart. They never know what's going on. This facility was at one time the very best in San Antonio. That, sadly, is no longer true. A family member of mine recently went there for rehabilitation following a long stay in hospital where, among other treatments, she had surgery to implant a pacemaker.
