After being told they don't pro-rate, I was charged a pro-rate because I was told that if I broke my lease before the end of the billing cycle, I wouldn't have gate access. So I was charged for a pro-rate for an empty unit that I wanted to get rid of one week before my lease was up. Dirty business! The only storage spaces I have ever heard of not pro-rating their units. Definitely use Extra Space Storage instead. They have amazing customer service and do not disappoint. A better use of your money.
