I would use dish soap on the rails to help insert them into the brackets. Also, continue to screw the fasteners even after you hear the "click". Otherwise limited tools needed and I am very pleased. I later purchased the shelf covers for the tops of the shelves from the same company. Small shelf was from Home Depot as Amazon did not carry it.

Simple design, Unusual shelf The design is simple, and relatively easy to install. It is a shelf with bars instead of a flat smooth shelf surface. Thus, it is a bit wonky putting laundry bottles on, we put a thin sheet of plastic on it to make a smooth surface. Study the picture carefully and determine if this style works for you.
