The French Gourmet Bakery, founded by Mary & Patrice Remain, has been serving Houstonians for over 40 years. Established in 1973, their family business has remained a Houston icon for those who adore French & American style scrumptious cakes, cookies, pastries and breads. It all began five generations back when French-born Patrice’s parents began the baking tradition. Both his parents came from bakery families in the Loire Valley of France from the 1860’s.

This place is good. Great service but the pastries were too subtle in flavor for us. We the almond croissant, chocolate eclair, palmier, coconut macaroon, chocolate chip cookie, cream cheese danish, and pecan macaron. Everything was fine but nothing stood out
Get here early for the best selection of pastries. The chocolate ganache thumbprint cookie is divine.
This is a beautiful place to grab some baked goods. I will preface with I had a sandwich. The baguette was a great texture and flavor. The sandwich overall was basic, but fresh and on great bread. Everything looked incredible in the cases though. I will have to come back and try some of the other items to get that 5th star. I will say the cookie was excellent though! The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful which adds to the experience. Plenty of parking too!
We discovered French Gourmet through friends and then saw a TV spot on best king cakes so we tried it out. BEST KING CAKES for sure. Everything we have tried at the bakery has been fantastic. There are so few bakeries doing high quality products in small batches these days. French Gourmet is a real stand out. I love this bakery! They make the best Buche de Noel cakes at the holidays. Worth every penny - the cake and fillings are so good, and the icing is so light. I always get more sweets when I’m stopping to pick it up and they never disappoint either. Get the chocolate - get allll the chocolate! Yum!
