Three years post hip replacement and my left hip is worse than than ever. During a follow up visit he handed me a card with three exercises and helped me walk to the exit. If you want a successful outcome go elsewhere.
Business response:
I am very sorry to hear about your discomfort. It is highly unusual to have persistent problems years after a hip replacement. The underlying cause is often related to the spine or stiffness between pelvis and spine, rather than the hip implant itself. The card you are referring to we hand out at 4 wks. Without further evaluation, it is difficult to know what else might be contributing to your symptoms. I encourage you to reach out for a comprehensive evaluation, your outcome is highly unusual.
He performed the surgery satisfactorily. Recovery was standard. BUT, his personality and degree of empathy is horrendous!!!!! First follow-up visit after 25 days he screamed 'you're not far enough along' and put me in a corner chair and forced my thigh into my chest while I screamed for someone to help me. I was still stoned on OXY and he required it whenever I was awake. If I had beed clear headed I would have broken his nose! Knee replacement is no longer rocket science. Find someone else...
I have now had 2 hips replaced by Dr Boettner & he is excellent but was just told by his office that he is no longer accepting Medicare! I feel that is elitist & wrong because the majority of patients who need joint replacements are on fixed incomes! When I expressed this to his office staff I was told that the follow up visits would still be at a reduced rate of $200 to which I answered that is too much when your insurance co-pay was $15 & it just shows how much he is out of touch with normal people to think that is accepta... read more
Two hour wait to see him for first two appointments, and then spending less than 15 minutes with me. Refused to have any discussion of physical therapy as post operative option, and told me to get another surgeon if I wanted to have PT - WHILE I was on the table prepped in gown for surgery. No plan for post surgical visit in recovery until I pushed for an update to find out how it went in the operating room. Now having post operative complications with no improvement to mobility. Now looking for another Dr to pursue followup... read more
After interviewing three other Orthopaedic Surgeons, I decided on Friedrich Boettner, MD to do my total hip replacement surgery. When he told me I should have had the surgery done 3 yrs ago and that I had waited for the last possible moment, which he was correct. I was in bad shape. To me, his pinpointing this info on my 1st consult, I knew I had found the right dr for me. Plus he is affiliated with HSS & his bio, experience and patient reviews. Friedrich Boettner, MD has given me back my life.
Friedrich Boettner, MD has a 4.8 star rating with 244 reviews.
