I work in skilled/LTC as a nurse. I have worked with good Sam for my residents and their family’s and have always thought they were the best hospice care company. When my dad was getting tired of chemo and having declines good Sam was my first choice and they were there at first as a palliative care provider. They immediately started to make him comfortable and treating his symptoms. During the palliative care time he was still able to do his chemo treatments if he so desired. Unfortunately my fathers decline was rapid and we were told by oncology that there was nothing else they could do. We immediately went from palliative care to hospice. My dads nurse Brittany and cna Miranda were amazing to my father. He really enjoyed their company and they took great care of his needs and dignity. He soon moved in with me and the team was prompt on getting all of his equipment to my home. I had the social worker check in on me and really made me feel good. As the last two days were rough when I called at 3 in the morning I had the on call RN right at my home. Neither night they left until my dad and I were comfortable. This was july 12 when he passed. They have since sent me their condolences and they offer one year of grief services that I will take advantage of. I absolutely recommend good Sam hands down for your palliative and hospice needs.

My husband, Charlie, was a resident in a local long term care facility for almost three years due to hip fracture and resultant complications...it was then that he was diagnosed with a new, rapidly growing pancreatic mass, presumed to be cancerous, but untreatable. He decided to return home and enjoy his remaining time with family and friends. He had me contact Good Samaritan Hospice because he had heard so many good things about them. And Good Sam was wonderful!! From day one until his passing, they were respectful, kind, attentive to his needs, and supplied him with all needed equipment, meds, nursing care. He enjoyed their visits and appreciated their help. They were also there for me, even after his passing. I was so impressed with Good Samaritan that I entered their volunteer hospice training program and am now a volunteer with this excellent organization.

I dont even know where to begin to say thank you to all the precious employees at Good Samaritan Hospice. Angie (mom's nurse) & Kayla (mom's CNA) were so loving, caring, and supportive during our mothers illness and passing. They treated her with love and respect until the very end. We could never say thank you enough to them, and everyone else behind the scenes, for all they have done for us during this difficult time. We will pray for you guys as you continue to help others through their difficult journeys as well.

The awesome support we received from these people was beyond awesome. My brother-in-law was in Berkshire in Vinton for several months. The long phone calls where every question was answered, even the hardest. My husband and I both would be on the phone at the same time. They did not mince words, they spoke honestly and truthfully. At this time we wanted to know the truth, how long, what do we look for at the end. We lived out of town, but they kept us up on everything, promising to keep us aware of all that was going on. My brother-in-law loved those that came to bathe him. Thank you so much so making a rough time easier.

Finding out last summer that my dad needed to go on hospice care was devastating. But not as devastating as the last four months. I am thankful for the last three years with him by me. But we have not had who my dad was for a long time. We lost him twice. Once a number of years ago when we did not even know he had dementia or cancer. But we stopped getting happy Birthday or just to see how you are calls. We may have had him here by us for a time but we lost who he was. I cannot imagine a better hospice team then Good Samaritan Hospice and Mrs. Kathy. But just being able to share stories at the celebration service today was good.

I’m so very thankful for Good Sam!! 10 years have gone by since my sissy Dana Carol went to be with the Lord. I still have such beautiful memories of how they loved me! The Staff helped me feel like I was a part of her care! They blessed me with their care of our whole family. Most of all they blessed us as we helped sissy go home!
