None of the descriptives provided really key in on the allure of Grindstones on Rockville Road. Okay, the food is great. Tonight I honored my dad by ordering his favorite salad dressing (which many restaurants can’t provide), French dressing with blue cheese crumbles. That was great enough, but they took it over the top with tiny julienne zucchini strips, red onion, and crispy potato sticks, all on fresh greens. I rarely eat half my salad, but it was so delicious, I came darn close to finishing it. Then, there was the sweet potato fries and the petit prime rib cooked to medium-rare perfection. Delicious meal. But what makes this restaurant really special is the neighborhood atmosphere. Everyone is a “regular” and even if you don’t go there all the time, you’re still treated like a friend by servers and patrons, alike. The bartender is fabulous, working so hard, yet joking with the guests and serving everything to perfection. She remembers us like we were there yesterday. In today’s impersonal world, neighborhood restaurants like Grindstones are a breath of fresh air.

Devon was a great server, noticed we were celebrating 49 years....made some delicious suggestions. I loved the jalapeno corn chowder! The taco salad was huge, my husband's chicken noodles were delicious also.
