The Stanley Cup was given to all of hockey by Lord Byron Stanley to be awarded to the best hockey team for each year. This year it should be given to the winner of the AHL. Just because the NHL is not going to play doesn't mean that the Stanley Cup should not be awarded to the best hockey team of 2012. This was the original intent of the Stanley Cup and it should be upheld. It was never intended to be the property of the NHL.

Do everyone a favor please. Since you are the Trustees of the Stanley Cup, please tell the NHL and NHLPA that if there is no season for 2012-13, that they will need to look for another championship trophy, as the Stanley Cup will be reassigned as the prize for a different competition...
