There is something deeply wrong with Dr. Amy today or she simply doesn't like big dogs. Horrible service and in 13 years of doing business I can simply say RUN, don't walk away from this business. The disaster that occurred this morning when her and her staff tried to force my Saint Bernard puppy, who they did not introduce themselves to, who was clearly nervous, to go with them by dragging and choking him was completely unacceptable. I used this clinic, based on recommendation, for a few years after I was unhappy with my previous veterinarian. I'm not sure why I stuck around so long. My dog has had skin allergies and ear problems most of the time we have had him. Both Doctors treated my dog on several different occasions. The common solution was a steroid and an antibiotic to clear up his skin and an ear wash for his ears ($30 dollars a pop for the wash). I have been to more than one vet that would cut me break if I brought multiple animals in at the same time for regular office visits, this place does not. Also their office visit fee was very steep compared to what I am used to. I felt like I was being harassed about a male purebred that I have that that is not neutered. I only went here once.

This is the worst vet clinic I've ever been to, from staff to vet. The facility is very nice but that's the extent of the positive. They want to do alllll sorts of tests and procedures when all I wanted was to get my dog micro-chipped. Very pushy about wanting to clean the dog's teeth ($800) and selling items from their shelves. I have not returned and would never return. I'm surprised they're still in business.

My rating shows one star, only because it is not possible to show a rating of zero stars. Or a negative five star rating. Let me explain my experience at Lakewood Animal Hospital and why I have such a low opinion of this place. I got home from work around 5 pm and noticed the swelling and called my regular vet, but they were closed, so I called Lakewood. I have been to a lot of vets in my lifetime. This is the first that has tried to milk me dry financially, at a time when I am unemployed. I told one of the vets I had to borrow money to pay him so far and he ignored me and kept talking. I don't think they really care about my dog, they only want money. They get upset when I get a second opinion, and would love to run every test they can think of to "diagnose" my dog. If you want a vet that completely ignores their veterinary oath, this is the place to go. In order to "teach an owner a lesson" they will stop treating your pet, even if they need regular medical attention. Don't let the "niceness" fool you. They were providing care for one of my pets. I arrived one day to pick up a prescription and was handed an envelope. Within was a note saying, without explanation, that they were refusing to provide medical care for my pets from that point on. I recently moved to VA so I was "interviewing" new vets for my two dogs & three cats. I looked at the fees charged for certain tests. I took my 12 y/o dog to the vet yesterday. If you don't mind a Vet running tests that you didn't authorize you've come to the right place. Also you'll love the added "convience" of having an $18 kennel fee added to your bill with no notice at all because you grabbed a bite to eat while they run some tests on your animal.
