This has more to do with how the system works. I am a poor judge in that my roofs are too shallow of slope for leaf guard to work well--plus we have had little rain in the area to make a good judgment. So far, however, we have not experienced any problem, the "water fall" we had in the back yard disappeared, and I have had little or no need to clean the system. To date, however, I have nothing to use as a basis or recommendations.
