Compared to independece school of cosmetology......OMG!
I love the instructors and how they were still there along side the students for a few moments as they did what they needed. My student Stephanie was really sweet, amazing and fun to talk to.
When I went in for my consultation, I was basically a guiene pig test for a moment on consultation and so there were 3 other students (do not remeber their names but were also very sweet and amazing)
There was only one issue I had and I hope this is taken as corrective criticism because I was not exactly sure what was going on that day.
When I had arrived to my consultation, Mitsu had given me to a different student. I am new to the whole idea of basically risking ny hair and bleaching the shit out of it to be a model for a students portfolio. The student was male. I will admit that from past experience I never had a male cosmotologist work on my hair mainly for the fact that there were very little to no male students in the Independence school. After getting the instructor and going over and idea, he had said without hesitation "I don't want to do it" and then proceeded to start tossing his things into his supply box as the instructor searched for another student
I dont know if he was already having a bad day or if maybe my body language came off too strong as hesitant that I thought maybe he couldn't do it or whatever. I bring this up because I was already in a bad mood to an argument my boyfriend and I had that day. I was trying to keep a positive attitude and show that I'm willing to take this leap, and for the way he said it along with the tone in it brought me down a little to think that this wasn't going to end up happening.
I do not want this to be taken as no hard feelings because I am not aware of his reasoning for that day. But, to all the students there, take this advice from me.
You have every right to say you don't want to work on a specific client and I totally respect that. But like my momma told me, you need to watch your P's and Q's around people. Paraphrase your words better so that you don't give the customer the wrong impression. Like me, they could have been having a banged up day as it was and would probably hate to hear a thing like that be said to or about them.
I live in a mindset of understanding one side where things like cosmetology and painting/drawing and moving making and music making is such a dead end place. But at the sametime, I love to encourage amazing and talented artist like Mitsu's student to follow a passion and to help them improve on their skills and self esteem and so forth to accomplish making it in this shitty world we live in right now. Please take my concern to heart and apply it well and blossom into amazing students.
I plan to return for more amazing transformations from Mitsu and his amazing students and even be the guiene pig tester again if given a chance. Mitsu Sato and his amazing staff are teaching you all am amazing art and I am actually glad to say that I am proud to see the arts of hair designs and color done so tremendously well
