Dr Makela is by far the best doctor I have EVER experienced. He reviewed my whole chart before I even came in for my appointment so he knew my history. He is just so different from any doctor I’ve ever seen. He genuinely cares about getting me better and tries very hard to find a root cause instead of “shooing” you away with another RX. He has been such a delight through all of my health problems.
He is an amazing doctor and surgeon. I can not express in words what he has done for me. He went above and beyond any expectations a person could have making my surgery, (hysterectomy, bladder sling and more), possible and fast. I will be forever grateful.
My first appointment went better than I expected. He talked to me on wat I could understand. He asked a lot of questions spent more than 40 mins. With me. He was respectful, caring and knowledgeable with every question I had. I have been to the big name hospital in Michigan. And rested the run around. I spent 3 years of wasted time. He did more for me in 5 weeks . I would recommend him .
I came to see Dr. Makela for an issue I was having, which required me to have a procedure done. He took his time in explaining everything to me in detail. They were able to schedule my procedure very quickly, and I feel great now. He is an amazing doctor and I would recommend him to anyone who needs a Gynecologist.
Dr. Makela has a great bed side manner and he tries to engage his patients to make them feel comfortable, he is very competent and capable of operating the DaVinci Robotic for hysterectomy's I had very little blood lose and no complications I would recommend him to anyone
Recently had surgery with Dr. Paul Makela, MD and was very pleased with the entire process and prodecures. The uterine repairs (pelvic organ prolapse) were needed and I'm glad I had them done. St. Mary Mercy Hospital in Livonia, MI. also was very good in my surgery and hospital stay. Would recommend this doctor and hospital. J.M.H.
Dr. Makela of Trinity Health treated me with such disrespect and insensitivity today that I had to post this negative review. If I could give negative stars I would. He had an issue with me asking questions prior to a procedure. His response was “I just explained it.” As I attempted to share my feelings of disappointment and anger, he said I had used up my appointment time, 20 minutes. Really nice Doctor and very professional. Getting diagnosed can take too much time though when you have an issue. After being in daily pain for 3 months, I eventually had to go to the ER to get a diagnosis and the ER Doctors used an ultrasound, revealing multiple problem-causing fibroids which I never knew I had. He's a great doctor for some people, but I had to go elsewhere to get my problems taken care of.
I would recommend doctor Makela to family and friends, I like the way he explains simple to more complex procedures to his patients. He is always kind, comes in with a smile and answers all of your questions. Thank you Dr. Makela!!!
