I have a 18 X 32 IG Grecian style pool. I had a polaris 360 for about 3 years until it broke down. A friend recommended the 165 to me so I thought I would give it a try since its cheaper and see how it works. I have used it this whole season and it has done fairly well. The assembly was easy to do in less than 30 minutes. The only tool you need is a knife to cut the hose. The hose comes coiled up and tries to stay that way in the pool. The pool cleaner allows more time to enjoy the pool instead of breaking my back cleaning it. Simple connection to the skimmer. I couldn't live withou it.
Overall I like the polaris. This is the first year for our 20x40 inground pool. We had quite a lot of leaves in it when we opened the pool in the spring and the polaris was great for getting them out. Just plug it in and let it go to work!
When we bought the house, a Polaris 165 came with the house. The Polaris 165 was over 10 years old and still worked! I used it for years until the kids broke it, so I'm replacing with the same thing. I trust Polaris, I know the 165 works in my in-ground vinyl pool, and it is a great value!
Basket got stuck and cannot be removed. Item was sent back and got 9650 iq
Gets stuck in the corners of the deep end. Tries to turn around half way down the slope and just slides to the bottom, then back up the same corner. Will do this for hours. Completely worthless for someone who has a traditional pool with a shallow end and defined deep end.
Not doing the job of cleaning the bottom of the pool
We bought this product hoping it would be a total pool cleaner and save us time. We had a similar product about 10 years ago made by Polaris, the Ray, that we loved! Although this looked similar, it did not perform at all as well...kept getting stuck, mainly picked up surface debris, took forever! I tried to return it and was informed by In the Swim that they wouldn't take back anything that had been opened... how are you supposed to know if the product even works without opening it? I had to purchase a new one because the first one broke. The replacement one will only go in circles and gets stuck in one place. I have tried everything to include the troubleshooting recommended. In the process of finding a better product.
