What else are you going to use? I'm new to pools and it is very hard to get the layer of silt of the pool floor. The old pool guy worked here for a decade, and never took the silt off the bottom. His theory was you sweep it and the filter is supposed to filter it out, but that is not efficient at all and simply does not work. When you actually get that silt you think is dust off the floor, you will be amazed as it is actually green slime. I bought mine at Leslie, and paid a little more. You need one of these! We recently remodeled our 30,000 gal diving pool, and began shopping for a cleaner that would keep our pool like new. The Polaris 9550 has so far exceeded all our expectations. Works better than my old vacuum I've used the Polaris 9550 pool vacuum for several months now, and so far it seems to work much better than my 23 year old Kreepy Krauly vacuum. Because I paid a lot more for it, my expectations are much higher. I use it about once a week, running it for 1.5 - 3 hours at a time. I never leave it in the pool outside of the cleaning cycle, so I've not needed to use the programming (scheduling) feature. Great tool It works as like the product description said it would. I really like it, as you can see from the 5 stars. It cuts my time cleaning the pool by quite a bit. And it works much better than my old cleaner.

Expensive & worked well for 2. 5 years. ... Expensive & worked well for 2.5 years. Now its out of warranty and dead. We dicussed it with the pool company where we purchased it and they said the average life expectancy for the robotic cleaner is 2-3 years. I wish they told us that upfront. Not a cost worthy of the investment in the long run. We had a Hayward suction cleaner that lasted more than 10 years.
OK but needs improvements Pros: Cleans floors well - saves a lot of time :) Cons: On my pool it flips over when it tries to climb the walls, so I have to disable this mode. The cable also ends up twisting so I have to untwist it after 3 hours of use. Finally it doesn't pick up fir seeds that are smaller than leafs but more common in my area. If the flipping issue and cable twists were fixed I'd rate it a 5!
Works Exactly As Advertised I have had this a month. It replaced a 15 year-old AquaVac 2.0. I was skeptical it would handle the water line as well as the AquaVac but it is just as good at handling all the terrain in my 16 x 32 vinyl-lined pool. The rear water jet does blow debris around a bit but if you allow it to do its thing the 9450 eventually gets it.
