How much tape can you waste? This label maker is the worst of the three P-Touch models that I have used, and the biggest reason is because it wastes a huge amount of tape. It has to feed about an inch of tape before it even starts printing the label so that it can clear the finger well in the housing. That forces me to waste about 30% or more of the tape when printing labels. It is extremely wasteful. Not only that, but I have to go hunting through multiple layers of menus in order to find the settings that I want to use. I ... read more
wasteful Get ready to waste an ABSURD amount of tape! This thing prints off an inch of blank tape before every single print and marks out where to cut the excess off. Why wouldn't they just start printing on a normal margin? Because that doesn't make you buy another tape pack! At almost $10 a pack Brother is making a KILLING off this! It's absolutely insane that this kind of stuff is okay. And no, there IS NO WAY to shrink the first inch in the settings.
Waist of lables You can't get rid of the 1 inch before and after the label is printed! I have to cut ever label I print so I will be throwing this out the window. Total frustration item.
Max size print too small Although this unit will handle 18mm (0.7") tape, the largest size of text is only 6mm (1/4" ) tall, so it will not print on 2/3rds of the largest tape it can handle. Per Brother customer service, this is due to the size of the print head. D400 and D600 print heads are large enough to print 17mm (aka 48pt font size) and t... read more
junk Bought it, hardly used it, and then it sat around. When I needed it again, it was out of warranty. And of course now it doesn't print at all. And customer service wants me to spend $95 and cost of parts to fix it. For a machine that is hardly used to break down is the sad modern way of doing things. And Brother could not care less.
