Better than a Dymo. This Brother label maker is an upgrade from a Dymo label maker that didn't cut the mustard. The Brother is more user friendly and provides better print quality. This has performed flawlessly and feels more substantial than the Dymo. Labels make many things easier and one of the first jobs for this Brother label maker was to label the spices in a drawer so their contents can be easily be viewed from the top.
It took me a minute to find tape cartage so added a photo. Great little labeler and very portable, I added a few photos so you could see size and where the tape cartilage is in packaging. Good luck!
Use alkaline batteries and this will last for years and years After reading all the reviews, I did some research on batteries. I also compared my usual Duracell Coppertop batteries with the cheap "Eveready Super Heavy Duty" batteries that I bought at a 7-11 when I needed new batteries in a hurry. After reading about alkaline vs. non-alkaline batteries, I confirmed the type of each battery and the Duracells were alkaline and the Evereadys were not--the "Super Heavy Duty" line is carbon zinc. Much more than I expected WOW, this is a little dandy! for the price. I ordered it to replace a small handheld I'd had for many years, was very basic, stopped working on me after 20 some years... so I was looking for inexpensive and that used the same tape, because I still had multiples left. This one HAS NOT DISAPPOINTED, I haven't even tried out all the options of font, and borders etc yet....

Nice compact machine, seems under powered? I have no complaints about this machine that relates to the quality of the labels or printing - it does exactly what I need it to do and I like the many border options. However, I put new batteries in, and it almost immediately said "low battery". When I say new, I mean new. Sealed package, just purchased from the store with a valid date.
