First time at Ela's and yes it will be our last. I started with 1/2 dz oysters which were so tiny I could not believe they cost 12.00. My wife had oyster rockerfeller which were under cooked and very mushy. For dinner I had the slightly seared tuna which was over cooked and needed a knife to cut. It was removed from our bill after the manger looked and tasted. He acknowledged it was not properly prepared. My wife had crab cakes which were very bready. Not a restaurant I would recommend
The portions were small and overpriced. The lobster bisque serving was shallower than the soup spoon. The "jumbo " crab cake was fair but only two inches in diameter. The wine by the glass serving was the stingiest we experienced at Hilton Head. The service was lukewarm. We will not return.
6 of us went there for dinner. We all enjoy a great meal and fine service when we go out and we definitely weren't disappointed. Jason was knowledgably about the wine and food options. Nothing we ordered was disappointing. We were lucky because we had both the Valentines day menu and their regular menu to chose from and everything we had was unique and full of flavor. Thanks for making our pre Valentines Day dinner a memorable one.
Way over priced for the amount of food presented-----the wine list was extremely over priced The food was nothing special and the portions were very small Long time snow bird on Hilton Head Island this restaurant will be one of the past
The waitress recommended the specialty wine, then when we asked for another glass., she said they were out of it...the blackened tuna came out stone cold...we've been there and will not go back again
Green bean casserole was undercooked, turkey was bits and pieces instead of slices of meat, gravy was thin and cool, cranberry sauce and stuffing were tasty, but sweet potatoes slices were hard as a rock. Have been to Ela's several times. Food and service were always good. This time, they were short on waitstaff, the kitchen was backed up. We were seated promptly and then no one asked us what we wanted to order for 45 minutes. When the food came, it was cold. Doubt that we will return to this restaurant.
Far to expensive for the quality we received. I don't mind paying for really good food but it was just not there on the three dishes we were served. The restauran t was terribly noisey. Food was mediocre at best,
We had reservations about a couple of weeks ago on a weekend nigt.They had 2 different steak options... One with sides 2 sides and one that was a la carte and a bit more pricey. My husband liked ths setup of the one with the 2 sides since it had horseradish on top and just asked about alternating the mushrooms for asparagus. She said there was an up charge... He said ok.
