My boyfriend was at Shirley Ryan two years ago after being in the hospital for two months and couldn't walk. They got him to the point of being able to walk 70 steps. Yep 70 steps, that's basically a trip to the bathroom, they set up outpatient therapy which we told them we didn't know how we could get him there. He couldn't drive, insurance wouldn't pay for transport, he couldn't afford to pay for it himself, his appts were for the middle of the day and I have to work so needless to say we didn't know how we could get him t... read more

DO NOT USE IF YOU HAVE A CHRONIC CONDITION, MENTAL HEALTH CONDITION OR A JOB 1. When their pain management doctor showed up an hour late without apologizing, it should have tipped me off. Then after telling BOTH the pain doc and the pain psychiatrist I have exertion fatigue, they both still recommended an 8h a day program. When I said I couldn't do group classes her face looked like she'd drank sour milk. 2. Their pain management program might be amazing. I'll never know because you have to be able to commit to 4-8h a day, 5... read more

Update-IMPORTANT NOTE IF YOU'RE ON MEDICARE: YOU GET 3 WEEKS OF CARE--and you're out. You can appeal--& 99% of those are not approved. (per staff that works with these) Be aware--because the notice to exit came abruptly and not directly from the social worker to the family. Came to the patient--not helpful when they misunderstand or forget. Nice people/caring people--just a heads up

Business response:

We appreciate your feedback, Leslie. At the onset of an inpatient stay, we are happy to work with patients, families and their insurance providers to help foster understanding of coverage providers are likely to offer. We apologize for any confusion.

In my opinion this place can be considered a scam.... My doctor referred me to them and it took at least six months to get an appointment. I went to my appointment and was taken to an exam room. Typical questions were asked from staff members. The doctor walks in and states "my staff is new, they are incompetent and they should never have booked this appointment. I do not take patients like you." That was it. I left. Should I be billed $550.00? Shouldn't everyone be very weary of a facility that operates this way. It is my o... read more

Like my dr. Facilities are clean. Easy to get in and get an MRI done. Always easy in and out. There are however incredibly rude people in the lobby who pick and choose who they let sit in the lobby. Attitudes and egos which sucks when you are not feeling great and are there to see a dr. Overall good place with a great doctor.

Business response:

JR, thank you for sharing your thoughts--we value honest feedback and have passed it along to the team.

So very disappointed with outpatient services. Dr Reese is a joke of a replacement for Dr Joe Ihm. Adios Shirley Ryan.

I was recently berated in the waiting room by the Northbrook facility staff doctor. Her tone and choice of words were unprofessional and tactless. I will not be returning to this facility anytime soon.

They do wonderful work. That said, their customer service is non-existent. We have been with our 10 year old granddaughter for the last week and she tested positive yesterday. I have an appointment tomorrow and tried to contact them twice today and do the right thing which is to inform them of the situation. Left two messages and they have not called back. This isn't the first time this has happened but it will be the last.
