If I could give Shirley Ryan no stars, I would. Please do not send your loved one here if you expect improvement. Upon the initial consultation, the therapists will tell you that they are able to accomplish certain things before you are discharged. You will get excited with the possibility. The progress will fall overwhelmingly short, not accomplishing anything originally discussed and then the inpatient care worker will inform you that you have met OT and PT goals set and that you are to be discharged. I recently saw Dr. Reese. I was there for one hour and a half and had many Xrays taken, I have joint pain due to arthritis and a torn meniscus. My regular doctor has moved so this is was my first appointment with Dr. Reese. I usually had cortisone shots which get me thru the next 5 to 6 months. Dr. Reese was very uncaring and cold. If you are scheduled for an ultrasound - it will take at least six months to get an appointment. I see a physician at SR who also works at Northwestern Hospital. Since it would take so long to get an ultrasound I asked for a physical copy of the order for the ultrasound so I could go to a facility that can accommodate the patient (me) in a more reasonable time frame and the physician was not comfortable with that. I've been a patient at Shirley Ryan Ability Lab for outpatient PT for a number of years, and until now always had a great experience. In December, I started a course of PT with one of their newer therapists, Jesus Monserrat Dominguez. After just 3 visits, I had to cancel all my appointments with her because she was not only recommending some painful exercises, I discovered she was NOT following my doctor's PT orders. This review is not about the City location but rather about the facility that is located Elk Grove VIllage and attached to Alexian Brother's Hospital. I can not say enough about the Center and the people, all of whom were beyond excellent, whether they were Nurses, Patient Care Tech, Physical and Occupational Therapist or general staff. I came here based on the reputation of the Ryan Ability Lab and can say that they exceeded my expectations. My sister dislocated her C5-C6 vertebrae and has spent the last 7 weeks with this amazing team rehabilitating. Since the terrible event, we have had so many blessings; one of which is being led to Shirley Ryan. Cannot say enough about each and every person I meet at the facility...everyone treats you with respect and are there to support the patient. God Bless You All!

3.5 Stars I have had both of my parents get therapy services at Shirley Ryan Ability Lab. One parent had speech, occupational and physical therapy services while the other just had physical therapy here. Overall the main facility is very modern and up to date. They do have another building that they used for day therapy, a program that they offered that combined speech, physical and occupational therapy. The therapists and personnel are friendly. I have been making multiple calls to reach Bailee Burningham, therapist and then Jessica Curran her manager to get some help and have not received a response. None. Unbelievable! I have now left a message for Joanne Smith, the CEO and we'll see how long that takes. F J
