SimonMed does appear to have some very unethical billing practices. I have had several different scans over the past 6 months. I am finding that each time I paid the amount that was expected to be paid by my insurance. I have confirmed my insurance has paid these amounts. With each new procedure they would again charge me. Not once did they recognize that I had a credit balance from the prior procedure. I am now in the process of trying to get a refund in the amount of $2,761. Both myself and the provider who referred me for MRI imaging are beyond frustrated. Beyond the concerns outlined in the ****** review -- call center out of country that is very difficult to understand, did not record any information provided (found out later by US-based Rep)- found out appointment cancelled when showing up for 6 am time slot. On 11/4/23 I was sent to SimonMed Imaging to obtain xrays of broken fingers. I gave them my insurance information, paid the co-pay and went back to my physician. Fast forward to today, 7/12/24 and I am still fighting with them to file my insurance claim correctly. I have spoken with 6 different customer service/billing reps and all of them assured me that it would be re-submitted to the correct insurance plan. Nothing has been done. So after 7 months of service here, they send me a bill for $1880 for a service was done 7 months ago I called my insurance before doing the tests and insurance paid for everything because i have reached my deductible so i was told i have to pay zero out of pocket. Called customer service, they say this was extra charges were not added on service day. How can you add extra charges after service date seven months later. Scammers!
Wish there was a no star option. Off shore calls only. No option to speak to a person at the location you chose. Then after 20 minutes of jabber you get disconnected. BS!
Go anywhere but SMI! Resolving billing issues is a total nightmare. Example for service provided on 7-12-23 I was told on 7-8-24 that I owed $1931.57. On 7-9 my Insurance Representative and I were told I was being issued a refund of $465.00 and on 7-10 I was left a message I owe $153.00.Do not pay them ANYTHING unless you are absolutely sure you owe it.
I am writing to report an issue with the billing practices at SimonMed. On June 11, 2024, I received a final notice for unpaid medical bills related to radiology services I received in May 2023. I went for an MRI on April 24, 2024. Supposedly, I owed $395.00. I paid $98.00 at my visit and then made a payment plan. In May, they took $74.00 from me, even though my insurance paid all but $80.00. They owe me $93.00 and I'm having a hard time getting it back. I will never use SimonMed again. They don't check with insurance before procedures and overcharge you, then don't want to give your money back.
I visited ********* in ******** for an *** of the ankle. I provided my insurance and they said I owed $650. When I asked if they were in network she said yes and that this was my copayment that would go towards my out of pocket deductible. I said I couldn't get the *** done then and the lady said to pay cash it would only be $295. I paid the $295 even though that was steep for me at that time.
