Parent review- If I could rate 0 starts I would. My 9 year old went here for 5 days to get some help, and was more terrified of the place than the thoughts inside her own head! She witnessed staff dragging kids by their feet into their rooms (not combative kids, just screaming kids). She witness staff screaming at kids for not moving or working fast enough. Out of the 4 different psych hospitals I've been in, this one is by far THE WORST out of all of them. I have stayed here twice, and both times the staff were EXTREMELY disrespectful to the patients and even downright abusive. If you want your child to have the worst psychiatric care possible, then send them here. While I was trying to sleep, the night time staff were blasting music on a very loud speaker. I was there a total of 6 times between the ages of 7 and 15 and I’ve had good experiences and bad! For example I had a staff member punch me in the face while I was in a restraint to stop me from moving and I had a staff member take me to the gym because I was super energetic to let me run around a little bit to try and help me! I was here in 2023 this was my second time here. Mrs Dejah read my file and told me my parents never did what they did to me. That I never got sa’d and that I was basically a liar. And when I got mad on the phone with my parents because of all the tramua I’ve been through with them that I told her about. She still called me a liar. Mrs dejah was by far the worst staff there. As a former patient of Southwood psychiatric hospital I can confidently say that this place will make you worse. I'm diagnosed with autism and PTSD among many other things. Not only were my needs utterly neglected, but they failed me on all levels. As a victim of csa I expected to receive basic empathy and help moving forward. You know what I got? Worsening PTSD.
