Updated rating: I spoke with the manager who was very helpful to explain the tax differences between a trade in and a direct sale so figuring in the difference accounts for what I saw as a deficit. That's now no longer an issue. And apparently despite the manufacturer's owners manual, a locksmith can make a second key without me having the original key tag number.
