Went on a virtual tour for my mom. This is a five start facility for sure. Only 3 years old and well maintained. Look like new with all the modern conveniences. 1 bedroom seem spacious and would be a good fit for my mom coming from a 2 bedroom beautiful condo. Many activities and options. Loved that they can have their dining room open 7am-7pm so not on such a tight schedule. 24-7 nursing on site.
I think since it is a smaller place it has much more personal interaction. Everyone is on a first name basis, very friendly. Very personal one on one care. If they do not see someone they seek them out to make sure everything is okay. Food is excellent, fairly new and a very pretty place.
I looked at several assisted living communities with memory care. Most seem more like nursing homes. My mom is in a wheelchair and needs some level of assistance 24 hours a day. She has vascular dementia but if she were not in a wheelchair could still function in traditional asssisted living. The Residence of Orchard Grove was the best decision I could have made for my mom. I brought Mom and Dad to Orchard Grove a little over a month ago and have been so impressed by the progress my parents have made. The staff make them feel so at home and they are thriving. They eat as often as they want from a large menu, with items like filet mignon (YUM!) and I've even seen them gain, weight which we were worried about before. The Residence at Orchard Grove has been doing a great job so far. They are a brand new community, and the apartment they offered was just right for my loved ones. I will say that the aids at the community have various skill levels, so consistency can be difficult to obtain. Otherwise, the staff is friendly and accommodating, the community is clean, and there are a lot of things to do for the residents.
