My mother recently passed away at Paine Estate in a room that shortly thereafter was deemed uninhabitable by the local Board of Health. Then, six days AFTER she passed away Paine Estate had the audacity to withdraw more than $7000 from her bank account without authorization. The Acting Executive Director justified raiding the account by saying that they were entitled to collect rent, fees, and expenses for a month after each Resident's death (in effect, it appears, they levy their own death tax)!
