Great staff and response times, but I've had mediocre experience with the quality of the hardware installed by default in the apartment (showerhead/ac/sink)

To The Spoke owners and management, I don't live there personally yet the reviews I've heard from residents is extremely poor. My personal experience is I would ask the owners to consider if they lived there how they'd want to be treated also the grounds, especially the driveways in and out to J street are so abrupt all the low vehicles are scraping the ground trying to slowly enter or exit. DO NOT LIVE HERE -- Save Yourself the Headache I lived at The Spoke for two years, and I genuinely wish someone had warned me about how bad it truly is. If I could give zero stars, I would. Let me start by saying the apartment I was given looked nothing like the one they showed on the tour. I was told it was a "600 sq ft" unit, but after measuring, it was barely 400 sq ft. PLEASE DO NOT MOVE HERE This apartment complex is right behind the train tracks which is extremely dangerous because of the large homeless encampments. A homeless person broke into my friends apartment and another pulled a machete on us in the parking lot. This is not a safe place to live for any student!
Student housing is student housing, but as a parent I have been underwhelmed by the spoke. Crappy maintenance, rats, mildew, excuses for not fixing sewer lines in a timely fashion. Up charges for everything, predatory fines for late fees (which would be ok if they themselves fixed things in a timely manner). But again.... part of the college experience, lol.

This apartment and this apartment's staff have been terrible and have caused my roommate and me so much stress and anxiety. We are college students with jobs that don't have time to deal with this many problems in our apartment that The Spoke will not fix. We have put in many hours of our time emailing and going over to their leasing office to fix our mold situation, and I have put in many maintenance requests. Lived here a few years ago and this place is absolutely terrible. From the water heater breaking and taking days to fix in the winter, to not once, but twice messing up my lease renewal which led me to having to find another place to live within a month, I would not recommend this place to anyone. College students beware. It may seem like a great place, but you can find better!!

A couple of weeks after move out I received a notice of charges due on my granddaughters' apartment at the Spoke. There was nothing given at the time explaining the charges. A couple of days after the contacting the office I was told what the charges were for. I had a conversation with a representative from the owner and I explained my and my granddaughters' position on the additional charges. Updated review gained a star for me because we found a super huge cockroach looking bug scurrying in our room that I trapped inside a trash can but didn't know how to get rid of it. Next day went to office and told them and Shane walked all the way to our apartment to help us get rid of it by grabbing it and bringing it outside to release. Super greatful he helped get rid of it I can now sleep in peace!
