Works great for sand! We just had an inground pool put in so have done TONS of research and comparison shopping for a suction side cleaner. We wind up with a lot of sand in our pool, mostly from the dogs getting in and out a zillion times, so I needed something that would be good with tiny grains of sand, dirt, grass, etc. I chose the Baracuda G3 because it will do what I need it to do and it doesn't have lots of expensive parts to break or wear out.First set up was frustrating because the picture-guide that came with it is ... read more
Good Product with Minor Issues. Ok, I have had the G3 for about 3 months. It generally works well and for the type of technology it is fine. One problem I had was that it does get stuck on the ladder when it climbs the wall and hits the vertical ladder pipe that is a few inches off the face of the wall, something others have said in reviews. The large plastic ring jams. So I took off the ring and it no longer got stuck there but did start sticking at the corner of the steps in the shallow end which it did not do with the rin... read more
G3 is WAY Better Than the G4 and Does Not Get Stuck on Stairs This G3 was bought to replace a G4 that lasted over ten years before literally falling apart. So far, in the 3.5 weeks that the G3 has been in the pool (and I keep it in 24 hours a day), the G3 seems to be a better unit than the G4. I have what I like to call a "kidney-with-a-tumor"-shaped pool that is 28,000 gallons and 10 ft. deep. I have it connected to the skimmer in the deep end, and it has not gotten stuck on anything and even has climbed the stairs in the s... read more
Yes! Buy it, You'll be glad you did! First and foremost: This thing works great! I wish I had bought this years ago! A little backstory. When I bought my house 7yrs ago I became a first-time pool owner. Being unfamiliar with all the options available for cleaning, I opted for the old-fashioned manual vacuuming method (meaning Me) along with a very expensive electric-plug-in robotic-cleaner. I reasoned that if the robot could clean-up the pool of any places I had missed, and do it without the pool pump being on, I'd save mone... read more
Great so far! I got this cleaner as a replacement for my 8 year old Pentair Sand Shark at a great price from Amazon. I finally got tired of replacing gears and other parts on an annual basis. It was really easy to put together - just snap on the deflector wheel and pull on the finned disk and you're ready to go. My pool has a dedicated suction port so I didn't need all the parts they include for using the skimmer outlet. Since the hoses are all standard, I just attached the cleaner to the ones I already had in the pool. The ... read more
A replacement for my Hayward Navigator I purchased the Baracuda G3 to replace my Hayward Navigator which I managed to keep alive for 17 years. The Navigator needed new parts almost yearly and I finally got tired of shelling 100 to 200 dollars per year to keep it going.I noticed several reviews of the Baracuda that stated it would run for a while and then stop. I think I've found a solution for this problem....This was the first cleaning of the year with this cleaner. As expected, evil things lurked below the murky waters thi... read more
Its doing a pretty good job Its doing a pretty good job. The vacuum stops a lot with no debris in the tube and I'm not sure why. It can't handle sweetgum balls or other tree pods, they just stop up the tube and she stops and you have to remove the blockage to get it going again. I was frustrated by the fact there is a yellow piece on the bottom of the cuda that is what the disk attaches too. On the side of this yellow piece it does not completely fit around the base of the blue part of the vac and I can't get it on myself be... read more
Cleaning using the old fashioned pole with a vacuum like head is such a pain in the butt I have an outdoor pool that gets oak tree leave, pine needles, and other assorted debris.I also take care of my mothers pool which has has the same. Cleaning using the old fashioned pole with a vacuum like head is such a pain in the butt. These automatic pool cleaners are such time savers. However, they are not all built equal. I’ve tried several models including a knock off that resembled the Barracuda and another that used small wheel ... read more
Barracuda-- does the same job as a $1K electronic robot vacuum for $250. Pool cleaning devices--including this one--promise something that they cannot deliver. And with each 'innovation' the promises become more expensive and the disappointment well, more disappointing. The only way that you will have a consistently clean pool is to clean it yourself (or hire someone) using a pool vacuum attached to a hose. Period. All of the other pool cleaning robot devices available including: Suction side, pressure side and electronic imme... read more
