First of all, let me say that my now 11 year old dog is truly like a 3rd child to me. I have been using Alpine for the last 8 years when I first moved into the area. I have always had very positive experiences with all 3 vets there, as well as the wonderful, caring, helpful and kind techs. In the past couple of years, as my dog is aging and having some more complex health issues, I have been especially pleased with the care my dog/we have received from Dr. Ramachandran (along with all the techs). She is truly just a lovely,... read more

I'm a "failed foster" -- fostered a dog through Homeward Trails and ended up adopting him. Because of their relationship with HT, Alpine treated him for a number of ailments while I was in foster mode, but I live far from Cabin John, and after I adopted him I took him to local vets for chronic issues, emergencies, vaccines, etc. Wish I had stuck with Alpine! Learn from my experience: It is worth the drive if you live far. If you don't, it's a no-brainer. I've dealt with Dr. Ramachandran and Dr. Sartain, and both have given ... read more

This is a review for Dr Ramachandra only. I had 4 pets, most of them rescued. I am using the past tense here because my last beloved rescue passed away not very long ago. I had found this dog in the streets of Puerto Rico and noticed he seemed to be sick. Brought him to a vet there and found out he had 2 fatal conditions, but decided to bring him to the US regardless that. Once back home, I brought him to Friendship Heights Animal Hospital and received the most awful service one can imagine: among other things, they wanted ... read more

I was relatively new to the area (used to live in Ohio) and looking for a vet. My neighbors had recommended Alpine so I thought I'd give it a try when my dog got into the trash and had several episodes of vomiting. Overall, the staff and doctors are very caring and attentive and I would highly recommend them. Doctor: You can tell when a doctor really cares vs when she is just trying to get the job done and rush out the room. Dr. Ramachandran was so sweet and very professional. She sat on the ground with my 60 pound lab... read more

The staff at Alpine are always friendly and helpful. The vet's have always been very helpful, knowledgable and kind. I have been taking my dog here for 12 years and wouldn't go anywhere else.

I rescued my dog from Homeward Trails in 2008, and she was treated initially by Alpine when I first got her. I stopped going there for a couple years because I didn't have a car (and live in DC), and started using a home vet. I recently went back due to my home vet not being available, and needing to have my dog seen ASAP. I love Alpine and will probably continue going there now, even though I need a zip car to get there. Dr. Sartain (sp?) is extremely nice and helpful. And compared to other vets in the city, and even m... read more

I've been bringing my dog Lolly to Alpine since I got her 7 years ago and have had nothing but great experiences. I've never been to any other vet where everyone seems to so genuinely care about the pets. Lolly never minds a visit to Alpine cause she's always smothered with attention (and a few treats). They're also very accommodating and whenever there's been a bit of an emergency and I want her seen right away, there's never been a problem with that. I think the price is comparable to other places in the area but you real... read more

Friends told me about Alpine when I got my puppy, because they were very impressed with the care their cat got during its terminal illness. I went to them and have been very happy. The staff is friendly and helpful, the doctors seem knowledgable and were willing to take as much of their time as I needed to answer my questions. I particularly liked that each time I brought my puppy in, the doctor educated me about a different aspect of dog care. I compared their prices with other vets, and while Alpine costs a little more... read more

When they say their family cares for your family, they mean it. We've seen Dr. Tom for more than a decade and think the world of him. Yes, Alpine is on the spendy side, but they've gone out of their way to save me time and money over and over again. Compassionate staff, convenient appointments, quick to return phone calls, and no pressure to do anything you feel isn't right for your pet. We'll stay with Alpine as long as they're around.
