Get directionsThis place is a straight waste of money and time. Can only talk to the vet for a few minutes then refuse to come back and talk. Vet has no bed side manner and told me dog had to be euthanized. Took my dog to a reputable vet and said I absolutely shouldn't put my dog down. Had surgery and now perfectly fine. This place is garbage, avoid at all cost.
I took my dog to have her R hind leg looked at because she had an open wound but my dog wasn’t examine but I was charged an exam fee. I was told $80 was for walking in the front door! I did wait in an exam room almost 2 hours for them to tell me that my dog needed stitches but it was non emergent so I’d have to leave her overnight which would be an extra cost and was quoted over $800! Dr Elizabeth Gray walked into the exam room didn’t touch my dog just walked to the computer and started giving me prices for what she said I’d... read more
Business response:
Athena received a complete physical exam (including vitals) by a nurse and was then assessed by a doctor who offered treatment options. We are an emergency facility and must triage cases. Athena was the most stable patient in our facility at the time. We apologize for your wait time, but other critical patients needed attended to first.
I would not recommend this place.

I went to AEC last night because my cat who is fed a raw diet has been having some GI issues and isn’t feeling to great. Nurse Katy was very kind and helpful the entire time I was there which was a couple hours. Unfortunately the vet, a woman whom I didn’t get a name of, was exceptionally rude to me over the fact that I feed my cat a raw diet, and was essentially telling me that I am killing my cat and he’s going to have a lifetime of issues eating raw. Mind you, MOST vets are against raw because they have been taught thei... read more
The most INHUMANE place I’ve ever went. DON’T take your animals to this place! They let our boy suffer because they wanted payment before they would put him down. The computers were slow & wouldn’t put him down until they got a payment. We took our Corgi there after our vet said there was no more he could do for him & suggested we take him to the emergency vet clinic on Memorial. My husband thought our lil boy might not make it that far since we live south. They just kept coming in & telling us if we wanted this done it was... read more
Business response:
Ms. Dixon, We are so sorry for your loss. Legal documents must be handled before a euthanasia can be performed. You were in our facility for 45 minutes. This included Bundy having an ultrasound performed, the euthanasia, and preparation of the remains.
Sorry for the length but I have noticed that they answer bad reviews so I wanted to give as much information as possible to maybe get a response. We brought our dog Frank in because he was acting lethargic and weak. Called ahead of time to make sure there was a vet on site to see him since we had never used this place before. The woman on the phone started to list the prices for the visit, X-rays, bloodwork, etc. none of which was asked about. Seemed a bit odd to rattle off the cost of medical procedures before seeing the ... read more
Business response:
We are sorry to hear about Frank. We never want to portray that we care more about money, but we do believe in being upfront about costs and treatments. We recommended more testing and hospitalization including IV fluids given via an IV catheter because Frank would not be able to eat or drink overnight due to continuing the radiograph series (a urinary catheter was not suggested). Frank likely had a splenic tumor. More testing and hospitalization could have helped define his condition, but might not have changed the outcom... read more

We have no record of you being in our facility. Please give us a call. Thank you.
They are so rude. The worst I've ever seen. They won't save your animal if your 20 dollars short. But when it passes away they will charge you. Just to tell you your pet passed all because you didn't have 20 more dollars at 2 in the morning. So they wouldn't even look at your pet said it's against their policy. So they just let your pet die. They are sorry. The worst ever.
Business response:
Dear Kelly, It is never our intent to come across as rude in any situation. After reviewing your case, your very sick pet should have been humanely euthanized the first visit. We have spoken and reviewed our policies with the staff member in question. To clarify: you only had $65, which is $20 short of the exam fee. Treatment of a pet that sick would have required considerably more - and likely would not have not worked. The $50 you paid was for cremation by an outside company.
Nice people, expensive but when you need a vet right away. My only complaint was that I ask about a discount since I foster dogs and work with several rescues as volunteer and was told yes, I would get 10% off of the price. When I got home and looked at the paperwork, it was never entered into the price. My dog had been abused, had a stroke and had eaten a steak she got out of the kitchen sink. Of course she was bleeding due to the bone trying to pass. In the end, nature took care of it. But we couldn't leave it to cha... read more
