My father had to move from another state to be close to me. We found university oaks to be clean, friendly, and they serve delicious and nutritious food!! He has been there 7 weeks and is enjoying the food and exercise programs. They provide activities and "field trips" for the seniors. It is good for him to be able to be independent while having staff and new friends watch over him. So far it is a great choice for him and my family. Everything under one roof, and the director could not have been more helpful. The residents were particulary friendly. They contract on-site thereapy services covered by Medicare, and the faciltiy is very attractive. Pets allowed and rooms a nice size.
Staff is very friendly and easy to converse with however they either dismiss your complaints or have no authority to take corrective action and are unable to guide you to the appropriate person. The amenities are great -- I wish I could afford a larger apartment however my budget will no accommodate a larger place at this time.
I give everything a very high rating except for the food. We are having a real hard time with that. Also, the activities could be much better. that they run out of food often. They advertised that they have gourmet food and that is not the case that is their main selling point, which is what makes it so frustrating because it is definitely not the case also whatever is on the menu is not necessarily what's offered when you get there which is not great for elderly people. I’ve lived here for 2 years and my main complaint is food quality and nobody is doing anything about it. We’ve had many complaints from residents to the staff and we’ve complained to corporate but nobody does anything.

I was a resident of University for 90 days. I moved in after learning of it on the internet and having a personal tour. I was quite taken with the design of the facility and the 2 bedroom I chose to rent. I was present with appetizing pictures and delectable pictures which were anything but. My definition of independent living was not theirs. There were residents just doors from my apartment receiving hospice care. Had I known that, I would not have signed the rental agreement. Hello, we are sad you did not enjoy living with us at University Oaks. We aim to offer an environment where residents can age in place. Unfortunately during your stay we did have 2 residents under hospice care. Any caregivers on site dispose of waste properly and all trash bins are emptied daily. When there is any sign of pests we spray and take preventative measures from it happening again.
