In 10+ years with the same insurance, I have never had to pay out of pocket for any medical expenses. I was forced to pay $150 as a "deposit" for my appointment before seeing the Doctor. "Deposit" implies that I would get the money back, but was told that this would just go towards my bill despite the fact that my insurance previously has covered 100% of my medical bills. Avance required me to come in for a prescription refill, despite having requested a refill extension. I originally left Avance for similar stupidity, then my doctor merged w/Avance. It's ridiculous that someone has to take time off of work to go get a prescription refilled, despite having annual physicals and subsequent doctor visits.
