My wife and I had our Valentine's Day meal at the restaurant. While the waiter was most pleasant, the food was only average. My filet was tough and a bit overdone. My wife's shortribs were unremarkable. When I ordered a second glass of wine, the wrong variety was delivered and the waiter seemed shocked that I noticed. I frankly expected much better.
The restaurant was quite lovely and the service was good. The portion sizes were very disappointing and I would have to rate the food quality as average with nothing to write home about.
Will be an excellent place to recommend for a very special occasion once smoking is eliminated from the bar area. One patron at the bar smoking and it drifted into dining room. When I spend $300 to $400 for a dining experience this is unacceptable. Wisconsin goes smoke free July 2010, but until then exposure to second hand smoke is on the menu.
The "Big Three" of Food, Service and Atmosphere were all A+ at Bacchus. We have a wonderful time, and we will definitely go back, soon!
The dining experience could have been better. The food was good and price wasn't an issue. However, the service could have been better. Our waitress misrepresented their specials and over promised courses. Of course, this resulted in a number of questions and the waitress dismissing it as our misunderstanding ... not her's. Also, they tried to over charge by adding a 2nd $98 bottle of wine on our bill, and looked surprised when we caught the mistake. I would expect much better service at a restaurant of this type of caliber.
My husband & I were celebrating a special wedding anniversary which was noted upon reservation. We asked for a table with a view & did not get one. Started off ordering a bottle of wine and scallop appetizer...server later came back and said they are in the basement looking for that wine. Then she said they found it but that it was warm...she did not offer us another wine but said she would chill it for us. As a big fan of Bartolotta's in Wauwatosa and Lake Park Bistro, I was looking forward to my first visit to Bacchus. It was a special occassion and we opted to start with a glass of champagne at the bar. Server poured two glasses and they were flat. We commented on the missing carbonation and the server said "yeah, but how does it taste?" We said "like flat champagne" after which he gave us to new glasses, but a completely different vineyard and never asked our permission to substitue. Very strange. Sat at table in corner right next to food station. Great menu, food, and service, but tables are too close together, and ours, in particular, seemed like a revolving door of wait staff, food, and noise.
My girlfriend and I went to Bacchus for Valentine's Day. The service was very good. Our waitress was very friendly. We had the Scallops and Crab cakes to start. Both were top notch. I think the scallops were the best. We were both in the mood for steak. My girlfriend ordered the filet, and I had their flat iron steak. Both steaks were done perfectly.
