As a big fan of Bartolotta's in Wauwatosa and Lake Park Bistro, I was looking forward to my first visit to Bacchus. It was a special occassion and we opted to start with a glass of champagne at the bar. Server poured two glasses and they were flat. We commented on the missing carbonation and the server said "yeah, but how does it taste?" We said "like flat champagne" after which he gave us to new glasses, but a completely different vineyard and never asked our permission to substitue. Very strange. Sat at table in corner right next to food station. Great menu, food, and service, but tables are too close together, and ours, in particular, seemed like a revolving door of wait staff, food, and noise.
My girlfriend and I went to Bacchus for Valentine's Day. The service was very good. Our waitress was very friendly. We had the Scallops and Crab cakes to start. Both were top notch. I think the scallops were the best. We were both in the mood for steak. My girlfriend ordered the filet, and I had their flat iron steak. Both steaks were done perfectly. asked for something special for friend Sue we were celebrating her birthday. They said a DESSERT decorated plate with her name on. reservations for 5:45. Traffic problems called at 5:30 and changed reservation to 6:00 told the person we had theater tickets for 7:30 would like to be done by 7:15. told no problem. arrived at 6:00 seated Andy our waiter and we explained our situation immediately. The food was delicious, with some creative combinations. While I asked and received a table off to the side, we were nonetheless placed next to a group of 14 men. We had an early reservation and the restaurant was near empty when we arrived. The service was fine at first, however, when the group arrived our service dwindled and we waited quite a while for our check. Our only disappointment was the fact that we were offered cheese slices, which were unlabelled as having a separate cost. When we received the final bill, the cost was $5.00 per cheese slice. We were very upset. At $25 for five slices of cheese, we were completely turned off by our entire dinner. Although the overall food was excellent, we will not return.

Service was not up to its usually outstanding attention.
Every time we dine at Bacchus, service is extremely slow and non-attentive. It does not matter that there are two people waiting on you. We did not have any alcohol but our dining experience was over 2 hours long. From the time we ordered dessert until receiving our bill, it was 45 minutes. We had asked for the check to be brought at the time our desserts were delivered- it arrived 30 minutes later. The server also forgot our drink orders twice.
