I give them two stars because 2 out of the 3 customer service reps that I spoke with were really great to communicate with. Other than that it was a complete waste of time. Although I uploaded my docs super quick I felt like every inquiry had a 24 hour delay since they're on the West Coast I'm on the East Coast. Better is not better. After hours and hours of jumping through hoops and resending documents to no end, I cancelled my application. 3 hours later I get an email getting declined. I was told only 1 thing was holding it up several times and then had to send more and more documents and some of them multiple times. I like the concept but this experience was a terrible waste of time and I would not return.

1 star for being a waste of my time. After spending weeks following up on their endless task lists, they rejected my loan in underwriting because I had late payments on my current HELOC. It turns out the late payments were because my loan is variable interest, and apparently, I was a few dollars short (literally a few dollars) 2 months in the past year that I didn't catch. Just closed my Home yesterday and Better made the process really smooth and easy throughout. What I really liked about Better is their transparency. They put their best foot forward from the beginning and gave me the best rate. I was getting quotes from other lenders like Rocket, a local credit union and even had a mortgage broker. They gave me higher rates to begin with and only matched Better (couldn't beat it) when I showed them the Better rate. I went with Better because of that transparency. A few months ago I gave Better.com a 1 Star rating. I was really disappointed in them. I felt that I was baited and switched regarding my initial quoted rate. Today I am happy to change my review to a 5. Soon after my review a representative from Better.com reached out. She apologized and offered me the original 3% rate plus some closing credits.
