In 1995 founders Bruce Dean and Bob & Laurie Manley opened the first Black Bear Diner in Mt. Shasta, CA. Their mission was simple: create a fun and friendly atmosphere where the local community could enjoy huge portions of home-style cooking at a reasonable price. At the Black Bear Diner, so far so hmmm...they are out of the fish and chips, and onion rings. So far feeling a little disappointed Ok reevaluation.... the house salad was fresh, cucumbers crispy, salad dressing creamy. Our meals have generous portions, wait staff attentive, but not intrusive. WOW... Go hungry ! Servings are big. Food was wonderful. It was very busy yet the service was still very good. My mom and I sat at the counter and it was a blast. We laughed with the wait staff, cooks ... Great atmosphere, Wonderful comfort food and Barbara did a wonderful job with our service. Even the gals at the cashiers desk were fun. Can't wait to take my husband this weekend.
