I purchased a BMW from this dealer and I have to say this is by far the best service and experience I could magine, and I have dealt with a lot of dealerships. They sent me some videos of the car that showed the vehicle condition, features, and even a nice explaination on how to use the features of the car. All these were very helpful in making a decision on purchasing the vehicle. While I could have purchased a similiar vehicle for slightly less money at another dealer, the team of Mick and Hal at Tomkinson really went out ... read more

"Service appointment was fineThe quote to fix a 3 inch..." Service appointment was fine The quote to fix a 3 inch scratch on my right bumper was excessive of over $1000. I didn't need a new bumper! I would not allow my BMW to be repaired there as this estimate was way above what was originally guessed as between $600-$1000.

Business response:

Thank you for your feedback regarding your recent service visit! Unfortunately, we don't have the ability to fix body damage here at our dealership. We did deliver a quote from the body shop. If you would like us to have someone from the body shop contact you regarding the quote, we would be happy to do so! You can call our service department and we can give them your information or you can call them directly at (260) 434-4957.

I trusted Tomkinson as they sold me my second vehicle. Unfortunately they sold me a salvage car which I paid full price for. After I went in to let then know they didn't want anything to do with me. I use to think car companies like Tomkinson went off of respect and treated everyone with dignity. I was wrong didn't want to hear or help they are the worst after the sale.

Business response:

We sold the vehicle to this customer in 2009 with a clean title and CARFAX report. The customer contacted us in late 2015 to inform us that CARFAX added a record to the vehicle history report in 2013 - four years after our sale - indicating that the vehicle had been totaled in 2006. We contacted the Indiana BMV in 2015 and confirmed that the vehicle in fact has a clean title - as it did in 2009, per our documentation - leading us to believe that the CARFAX report obtained by the customer in 2015 was mistaken. We have since b... read more

I bought a used car from them and it had an air ride system which I did not like. They agreed to pay half of what it would cost to have the car put back on regular suspension. It cost me 1400 dollars and now they are saying they'll only pay me less than 300 dollars. So they lied.. more specifically Doug Kaylor the sales manager lied. He is rude and always interrupted me every time I was talking. They also did FIVE hard inquiries on my credit to buy the car. why would the need to do five? just for fun? now I have the credit o... read more

Business response:

We have met with this customer and have reason to believe that this situation is resolved, although perhaps not entirely to his satisfaction. In this case, our business sold the vehicle to the customer represented "As-is, with no warranty," in part due to the modifications made by the prior owner to the suspension. At some point after the customer test-drove the vehicle, agreed to all terms, consummated the transaction and left the dealership, he contacted us and indicated that he was not happy with the modified suspension. ... read more

My fiancé and I were looking at a used 2013 Tahoe LTZ Tomkinson had on their lot. After looking at the vehicle history report, we leaned it was fleet owned. With this in mind, we ended up making an offer and were counter offered with what amounted to a pittance of a discount. We then made a second offer for less than 5% under asking price and were told they bought it for more than what they are now selling it for now! We were extremely insulted at this feeble ploy to maximize their profit margin. It is a business; we know yo... read more

Business response:

We are disappointed to hear that this customer feels he or she was in any way misled or insulted. (Because we had multiple visits from customers interested in this vehicle around that time, it's difficult to tell who the customer might be.) This vehicle was purchased at auction for $45,415 in March 2014 with another customer in mind. After roughly $1,500 in auction fees, transportation and reconditioning we listed the vehicle for sale at just under $50,000. In the used vehicle retail business, unsold used vehicles lose their... read more

This dealership is probably the worst I have ever seen. My husband and I made a deal to purchase a 2011 GMC Terrain. My husband talked to the manager and they agreed on a price. We submitted the financing paperwork online through their website. We also set up a time and day to pick up the Terrain. The manager called my husband on Friday to set up the pick up time. A few hours later, he calls my husband back and tells him the Terrain had been sold at auction a few days prior. He also stated that they had been trying to get it... read more

Business response:

This was a case of poor internal communication by our sales team, and the customer’s dissatisfaction is entirely justified. The negotiations between the salesperson and the customer took place over several weeks by phone (the customer lives more than an hour away from our business), and during that period we were unable to reach a mutually agreeable price for the vehicle. Our used car manager ultimately determined that agreement was unlikely and decided to dispose of the vehicle at the auction. Unfortunately, the salesperson... read more

Should have read the other review on here about the service department. Needed an oil change and had an airbag light on on the dash. My wife was the first car in the service line early in the AM. 1.5 hours before she's suppose to pick it up, they call and say they need three more hours JUST TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. So, apparently it takes a specialized BMW mechanic all day and $430 to find out WHY a lights on. Total bill $255 for an oil change and "Diagnosis" that was worthless. Wish I'd have gone somewhere else....oh wait, ... read more

I purchased a Trailblazer from Thompkinson BMW in the FW 69 Automall just before Thanksgiving. It has been the worst purchase I have ever made. Within weeks of buying the vehicle (Dec.6) the passenger seatbelt broke. After trying to work with the Thompkinson service department to get the seatbelt fixed, I had to make phone calls, check on shipments and get the part after being handed off to a different service department. As of January 17th, the seatbelt is STILL broke. The morning of Jan. 17th the SUV failed to start. After... read more

Business response:

We take pride in our customer service, and take Ms. Harrington’s complaints seriously. I called her and spent 30 minutes discussing the situation. Following is our understanding of her complaints along with our response to each one. 1) She implies that we did not properly recondition the vehicle and were not forthcoming about the wear on the rear brakes. With 30% of life remaining, the rear brakes would have been useful for another 8-12,000 miles of driving. It would be wasteful for us to replace brakes in this condition, ne... read more

Well at least they are friendly when they try to screw you. Over charge from 50-200% over BMW ETK prices. One of the jobs I got an estimate on they wanted to charge three hours labor. I brought to their attention that BMW lists the job at 5 FRU (flat rate units) and they said, "Yes, that's right - 5 hours. We are giving you a break." A break? Folks, an FRU is 10 minutes! 10MINUTES! Stear clear of these yahoos, cheats, crooks and swindlers.
