While working and staying at the Gaylord I decide to check out Bond 45 just a short walk away. I know it is a steakhouse but I had my mind set on the Lamb Ossobuco Pappardelle. My waiter Roger shared with me all of the delightful specialties on the menu. With that said I began with the Burrata Mozzarella, Prosciutto di Parma, Fresh Mozzarella, Beefsteak Tomatoes. Very surprised..one of the best steaks I've had in the DC area.
My wife and I love the overall experience that we have when visiting. The only issue I have is that the chiefs need to concentrate on the consistency of what they deliver. I have ordered various dishes but the lobster Mac and cheese is my favorite, but it is prepared differently each time that I have ordered it. While not affecting to overall experience it does give a little uncertainty to the meal. I will continue to dine at Bond 45 and recommend it to my friends.
Service was good. We had the calamari appetizer. It was ok, but I've had better. The bread looked better than it tasted, but also wasn't bad. For our entrees, I had the rib eye. My wife had the veal. Both were cooked how we liked. My steak was rare and delicious. We split roasted potatoes for a side. For dessert, the wife wanted the cheesecake which we split. A bit over-priced, great service and ambience, nice for a special occasion.
We were celebrating our special date and were looking forward to a romantic night out. But turn out that we were dinning in a cold room because of the restaurant doest not have the heat that particular night and it was 29 degree out side. We wasn't aware that the heather does not working until we already order our food. The restaurant shoud not open for business with a very cold day like that.We would have had a better experience if the heat was working.
This was my second time to this establishment. Unfortunately, the steak that my girlfriend ordered had to be sent back because it was not prepared properly. However, more disappointing was the necessity to send it back a second time. Although a free desert was given, her meal should have been complimentary. I really do like this restaurant, I just think it should have been handled differently. Prehaps because we didn't have expensive drinks and wine, they felt they could not offer to comp the meal.
