I was admitted on an emergent basis to KUMC. Dr Carlson performed an urgent ACDF the next day. Im so grateful that he was the on call surgeon. I had severe spinal cord compression and was one fall away from being paralyzed. My debilitating headaches and head pressure are gone after months of suffering. If I ever need future spine work, he is my first choice. Very skilled and professional. Would highly recommend

Dr.Carlson performed a spinal fusion on me 1 year ago and I am back to feeling 100% normal again with no back or nerve pain. He is kind, professional and extremely knowledgeable. I am grateful that I was referred to him and the patient experience at KU was a good one for me.

Dr Carlson was one on the only physicians doing a laparoscopic fusion at the time in KC. Fortunately I qualified anatomically for the approach .His explanation of the procedure and risks was stellar. The surgery went as excellently - this was not my first back surgery- my recovery was remarkably fast and my pain totally gone . Would recommend him to anyone

I was hesitant about back surgery because of it's "bad" reputation. However, my surgery improved my life immensely! I was in pain for 2 years, unable to walk or stand for any length of time. After surgery, I'm back to all my normal activity with no pain at all!

Dr. Carlson was absolutely wonderful. I had nerve pain and numbness in both legs for over a year. I tried everything. The Chiropractor told me there was nothing anyone could do for me and that I would be in pain for the rest of my life. Dr. Carlson performed a minimally invasive surgery. The nerve pain and numbness were both completly gone immediately after I woke up from surgery. I have my life back. In addition, his whole staff was just as competent and caring as he was. I can't say enough to describe what a difference thi... read more
