I appreciate the attention given to my particular situation. In November we met Jeff with a plan to buy a house from our in-laws. They wanted to sell to us and had agreed on a price a little below market value. But we did not yet have enough cash for a down payment. Jeff told us about FHA and a "gift of equity". In effect there was such a gift, and the policy helped us act sooner. We bought the home by end of January. All parties are happy.
