I will be paying a lot of money over the next 7 years due to lackluster performance. Radio-Ad Lawyers, though.. truly my ignorance paid off. Pigeon-holed, with an 'associate' attorney who really couldn't care less. It's a mill. Wife decides to file bankruptcy mid-divorce. Cordell: "We don't know what to do." DO NOT fall for the slick advertising campaign of this firm! That's all it is! They delay on purpose and pad the bill because they know that in most cases the male has more money. Practicing attorneys have told me this. Rachel Schmidt of Edwardsville, IL office capitulated on every ridiculous demand made against me. Four figures into my divorce, paying too high of maintenance, paying my wife's divorce attorney and not one step closer to settlement. I've finally fired them and no more BS demands. After 5 months of working with Bennita Bullet, she didn't even know my daughter's name. My initial motion to file for contempt of court against my ex wife has still not been heard by a judge and thousands of dollars later, my situation has not improved at all. Im trying to stop child support that I've over paid for the last 5 to 6yrs 30k over and counting....I hired this firm out of Texas due to the divorce was done while i was stationed at Ft Hood, Easy fix I thought their in Texas and this men count on men bullcrap got me, I had to put down $2500 just for them to handle my case and they sent all the paperwork to Greensboro NC Child support to handle, Basically the CS agency here laugh at me and its been two months and the have not even look at it. I wish I would have checked this site before I signed on to Cordell and Cordell, but I loved their radio ads and thought they would be great for me! All of these negative reviews are EXACTLY what I experienced! They nickel and dime you for EVERYTHING and most are inflated charges that aren't even necessary! I paid 100's of dollars too much for an attorney who flat out told me, "I don't know much about VA laws, I'm from NY and used to practice traffic law." This was AFTER I signed on with their firm. This firm is inept to say the least. I began with a lawyer that I liked and was moved to two others within 6 months; each worse than the first. My lawyer shoed up 10 mintues before trial completely unprepared. He had not filed the required paperwork to the Court which meant I could not even defend myself. Other key items were submitted after 5:00 the day before trial. I could not have received a worse result from the Court. I only gave 1 Star because you have to. If you do not have unlimited funds for their advertising budget DO NOT RETAIN Cordell and Cordell. My attorney left at a critical moment in my case when we close to an agreement. I was told that I would not be charged anything for getting the new attorney up to speed. I was given a free 30 min consult to discuss my case with my new attorney, and that was it. Heard an advertisement for this firm on a local Omaha radio station. Claimed to be the "mans" attorneys, specializing in the rights of fathers. I met with an attorney who was great, next thing I know, I was assigned to another attorney. if youre prepared to spend tens of thousands of dollars for a lawyer how cares nothing about you your rights or your family ,then cordell is the place to go.they will charge you to read text messages and to talk to other lawyers in the office with the sole intent to run their fees . and if you expect to have a quick civil divorce. well forget that to your divorce will be over when you are completely drained of money and your family is in ruin . then and only then you might get divorced. be warned
