Update: Within a day of my posting the negative review, I received a reply from CB Corporate with an apology and a gift card. Thank you for the quick response and the card. I’ll return. Disappointing visit…Took my 98-year old WWII veteran friend out for lunch. The atmosphere at Cracker Barrel is always nicely “Americana” with its memorabilia of our country a hundred years ago. This Cracker Barrel is 2 miles from our house. I had the hamburger steak smothered and it was great. Wifey had the ham steak, also very tasty. Update: w April 25 ham steak is no longer on the menu, wifey is very sad. Good news, country fried steaks were very good.
We normally like eating at Cracker Barrel. However, this visit was not as positive. After ordering our food, it took 40 minutes for us to receive our meal. After being asked if we needed anything, we responded that we needed syrup for the pancakes. The server came again still no syrup. So we asked for fresh hot pancakes and syrup. In addition, refill our beverages. Another 20 minutes later, we had pancakes. The manager was very understanding and accommodating.
I usually have a great experience here but it felt off from the beginning. My hostesses had a very unwelcoming composure. She seated me with a stack of napkins for more than one person which may have gone to waste. I was not told of the daily special. I ordered coffee to drink but was not given a spoon. Will I be coming back, yes. This was just an off day for everyone.
Got a car side pickup. Food was at least warm this time and less time than normal to get out there. Portions were pitiful. A side of fries with a burger consisted of the burnt scraps in the pan that would make maybe 3 fries if you put them together. We go occasionally hoping for improvements. Maybe next time.
