I would think the #1 priority for funeral directors is to make the family's life a little easier. This was NOT the case with CSM. They picked up my mother's body on Wednesday, would not cremate her until the director met with us first. We couldn't get an appointment until the following monday five days later and we almost weren't able to get her remains before the funeral. Absolutely horrible experience. Felt like they did not care at all or even pretend to care.
They had not followed through with the 2 requests we had with my daughter when she passed. 1. That she be cremated with her star quilt. Made for her as a child and she was native so very important. 2. They separate her ashes. Some for her father and some for myself. They actually told my friend they would "bribe" us or to make it better give us a free urn if we brought her ashes back to be separated as originally requested.
Checking the mail is my favorite thing when I anticipate something from Amazon, because let’s face it... there isn’t much that makes me happy now days. But, here we are. Thanks for the punch in the gut Cremation Society of MN. I appreciate your sensitivity and foresight at the worst time in my families life. I’ll be sure to pass this on to all my friends!
On the day/time my loved ones ashes were to be at Ft. Snelling, they hadn’t yet been sent. Also, Ft. Snelling staff had not received the accompanying paperwork from the Cremation Society. The burial had been set up for in the ground but should have been set up for a columbarium niche. After two phone calls, a rep from the Cremation Society had to deliver the ashes and paperwork. After having my grandfather for over a week, and telling us he would be ready by friday the very latest, they decided to tell us two days before the funeral he wouldn't be ready. yet, they cashed the check almost right away. as a grieving family we had to worry about if my grandfather was gonna make his own funeral. after some words were exchanged somehow they managed to have him done in less than 24 hours. explain to me how that works. do not use cremation society in Duluth if you can help it.
Stopped at the Duluth Cremation Society to pick up my brother David's remains. Had a conversation with one of the managers about my experience with them. I will never recommend them and will leave instructions with our children that they are not to be used. During our first meeting the moment I commented that my brother was on assistance they closed the note book and shuffled me out of the room with in minutes.
